RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Department of Public Social Services has announced that Sheri Studebaker has been named Assistant Director of Administrative Services for the organization, bringing nearly three decades of social services experience to the position.
Noting Studebaker’s diverse experience, DPSS Director Susan von Zabern said “this gives her an appreciation for the needs of each division, an understanding of how everything is connected, and a foundation of relationships through which to ensure that we work closely together to meet our customers’ needs.”
Sheri Studebaker most recently served as Deputy Director of the Self-Sufficiency Division, overseeing all programs in the eastern county region. Studebaker’s primary responsibility was for the CalWORKs, Child Care and Welfare to Work programs. Studebaker is a seasoned veteran of social services having been with the Department for 27 years. During her career Studebaker has supported every division in various types of assignments. Having joined the Department as an Eligibility Technician, Studebaker promoted to social worker in Children Services then became a Program Specialist also supporting the Children Services Division.
“I’m excited to be leading the Administrative Services Division because we provide the support that makes it possible for social workers, eligibility technicians, and employment services counselors to do the very important work of protecting vulnerable people and assisting individuals and families to meet their most basic needs for food, shelter, and medical care,” Studebaker said.
Studebaker distinguished herself as an effective and reliable proponent of DPSS programs and then moved to Administrative Services as a Supervising Research Specialist. In her new role Studebaker headed up a newly created Statistical Services Unit that developed comprehensive management reports initially for the CalWORKs program and later for other programs. Studebaker later promoted to Administrative Manager in Children Services where she was responsible for staffing, policy, quality assurance, CWS/CMS and the professional student interns. Later in her career, she returned to Administrative Services to be the Human Resources Manager and then to oversee the Research Analysis and Decision Support (RADS) unit before returning to Self-Sufficiency as Deputy Director.
“Sheri Studebaker is very passionate about the Department’s mission and ensuring that we always keep customer service, and all the forms that requires, at the forefront,” von Zabern said.
Sheri Studebaker has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from California Baptist University in Riverside, CA.
Studebaker’s philanthropic efforts have taken her across the globe in support of organizations that provide services for orphaned children with AIDS. On two occasions Studebaker traveled to Kenya to spend time with children assisted through the work of Tumaini International and to spend time with the local people of the region.
