The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Health Care Reform (HCR), was signed into law on March 23rd, 2010. It provides increased access to quality and affordable health care for all citizens, allowing individuals, families, and small business owners control over their health care choices, and reducing premium cost through tax relief. The new online Health Insurance Marketplace will provide families and small businesses who currently don’t have insurance, or are looking for a better deal, a new way to find health coverage that fits their needs and their budgets.
Open enrollment in the Marketplace started on October 1, 2013 through March 31st 2014, with coverage starting as soon as January 1, 2014. Residents in Riverside County can apply for Medi-Cal/Cash Assistance/Food & Nutrition services through C4Yourself. California families and small business owners can also visit www.CoveredCA.com right now to find more information on Health Care coverage. If you have additional questions, please call Covered California at 1 (800) 300-1506.
