Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) is committed to providing protection from abuse and neglect to all of the population that we serve. DPSS Inspections Branch is committed to identifying and eliminating fraud so we can dedicate our resources to the people who are entitled to receive it.
Riverside County Welfare Fraud Investigators are sworn Peace Officers under 830.35-PC of the State of California, Penal Code who conduct fraud investigations, internal investigations, and locate runaway children under the jurisdiction of DPSS. (To report fraud, see below).
Riverside County Investigative Technicians conduct preventative fraud interviews of customers, review customer applications, and verify facts provided by customers at application to prevent fraud.
Some examples of fraud are:
· Falsely reporting a parent is absent from the household
· Falsely reporting a child in the household
· False reporting of information by a parent or provider to the Childcare program
· Intentional failure to report narcotic related felony convictions
· Intentional failure to report an active felony arrest warrant
· Intentional failure to comply with parole/probation terms
· Intentional failure to report employment and earnings
· Intentional failure to disclose personal assets
· Intentional failure to disclose assistance from other programs (Un-employment, Social Security, Disability, Sect. 8 housing, etc…)
